Winter Comes Quickly

The weather here never happens quite like the forecasters plan, but this storm is one they gauged correctly--snow, and lots of it... It is both beautiful and haunting. On a normal day, I look out my window and see the world. Overlooking the open water of the lake, I can see the bridge of my neighboring city, the rolling mountains beyond there, and the vast sky that harbors the rising and setting sun, but not today.

The swirling flakes whited out the distance, painting a grayish-white background, not far beyond my dock. Bright, yet gloomy skies of dancing flurries in the dead of winter--another mystical world to encounter.
